Ken Harrell was born in Amarillo, Texas and was raised in and around Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Attending NEO College in Miami, Oklahoma on a full music scholarship, Ken always dreamed of singing and writing songs for a living. Ken became a father at age 20 and now is the proud Daddy to 6 beautiful daughters and 10 grandkids. Family is and always will be the greatest joy of Ken’s life. After a stint as one of the original ‘shop at home’ hosts on QVC (then known as CVN)… Ken settled in Branson, Missouri as the featured male vocalist and emcee of the long running, Ozark Country Jubilee. Soon after, Ken traveled to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his dreams of being an artist and songwriter. After signing a deal with EMI Music and being produced by noted producer… Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Blackhawk) Ken settled in as a staff writer at EMI and then with the legendary Nashville publishing house, Acuff-Rose/Sony Music. Garnering several major label recordings, Ken was also awarded a Gold record for the Stacie Orrico debut album ‘Genuine’. His song ‘Restore my Soul’ has been played over a million times, worldwide… with dozens of YouTube and cover versions from across the Globe. Over the next decade, Ken was able to secure recordings by Sonya Isaacs, The Kinleys, Tami Cochran, 3 of Hearts, Brian McComas, George Ducas and modern rock band, Fools for Rowan… along with dozens of independent recordings and songs being played on HGTV, MTV, The History Channel and more… on broadcast television. Ken also was able to place two songs in two major motion picture films. In 2003 Ken met and became fast friends with Phil Everly of the Rock and Roll and Country Music Hall of Fame member ‘Everly Brothers’… and went on to write several dozen songs with Phil, including the very last song Phil co-wrote… before his untimely death on January 3, 2014. Ken says ‘meeting and writing with Phil is one of the greatest joys of my life… but getting to know and love him like a father was even cooler. He was an extraordinary man full of kindness and generosity… and loved our Lord’. After some nudging from Grace Churchs’ senior pastor and frequent co-writer, Kenny Hagin… in Port St. Lucie, Florida, Ken fell in love with all things… Celebrate Recovery. Having battled clinical depression for over 20 years, Ken felt the call to share his testimony and songs for Celebrate Recovery chapters nationwide. Ken is excited to announce the release of his follow-up CD entitled ‘Hope’ and has developed a new web site and ministry at www.hope4youministries.com.
