Singer, songwriter and musician, Jeff Hodge, was born and raised in the Muscle Shoals area where he developed a deep appreciate for rootsy, R&B, southern rock and country music. After learning to play guitar at age 14, it wasn’t long before he was playing along with some of his favorite acoustic tunes by the Eagles, America, John Cougar Mellencamp, Alabama, Shenandoah and Garth Brooks.
Jeff began penning his own music in college and has worked hard to develop the craft over the past few years. That dedication has paid off recently with the release of his debut EP, “Better than New”, produced by Jason Wyatt. The record includes six original songs, five of which Jeff wrote with frequent co-writers and friends in Nashville, and can be found in most digital stores, including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Google Play.
Another of Jeff’s songs, “Running from My Roots”, written with Janelle Arthur and Stephen Paul, is the title track for an upcoming movie starring Janelle, Deana Carter, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Aaron O’Connell, Patrick Muldoon, and others. The movie is scheduled for release on December 11, 2018.
Some of Jeff’s other accomplisments include finishing runner-up in the 2016 CMT/NSAI Songwriting Contrest with his song, “Want To”, co-written with Madison Olson, Rob Olson and Keith Pulvermacher; as well as several of his songs landing in the NSAI quarterly Top 40 and “Ones to Watch” list. He also performed in both the 2015 and 2016 Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville as a result of his songs placing in the Top 12 of the NSAI “Best of Spring Training” both years.
Jeff now splits his time between his hometown of Decatur, Alabama and Nashville, Tennessee where he enjoys writing country music and performing in writer’s rounds with good friends, co-writers and recording artists. You can also find him frequently performing as a solo act in North Alabama and the Nashville area, singing both his original music and covering classic songs by some of his favorite artists growing up as well as current country hits by Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Blake Shelton and Old Dominion.
When he is not writing and performing as an artist, Jeff enjoys leading worship at his home church, running, watching college football and most of all, spending time with his beautiful wife, Sonya, and three children, Drew (24), Ben (21) and Katie Lin (14).
