Louis Prima Jr. Coming to the Malibu Inn
Prima is the son of legendary singer and bandleader Louis Prima, known for his seven-piece New Orleans style jazz band in the 1920s and that went on to influence his big swing bands.

Prima said he provides a modern twist on his dad's swing favorites, which usually gets attendees up and dancing.
Not quite swing, Prima's music style is more complex.
"It's a rock band with horns," he said.
The goal is to make sure people have a good time.
"There’s not a lot of happiness in music anymore. Music is supposed to be uplifting and make you want to jump around. My father was kind of the king of doing that," Prima said.
He said he formed a rock band and toured for nine years, but the grunge scene was too depressing. Instead, he's embraced the style of his father.
"He believed music was supposed to be happy and make you forget the time. We’re kind of carrying on the tradition," Prima said.
